Our Story
Grow Thyme is the creation of two women who have come together over a love of fresh food, community, and chasing what excites them.
Growing up in Leesburg, Florida, Alex spent much of her childhood with her great-grandparents, Etta and Charlie Porter. They taught Alex two things that she carries with her to this very day: how to keep a bountiful garden and the art of being a great salesperson. In 2009, Alex moved to Gainesville to attend the University of Florida and never looked back.
Upon graduation, Alex found an intro level sales position at a local, family-owned test prep company in Gainesville, FL. With no sales experience, she fought her way into the position and quickly outsold even the most seasoned veterans. Alex attributes her sales success to a quote from her great-grandfather Charlie, "To be a good salesperson you need a great product and a love for taking care of people." She also owes her interest in gardening and growing fresh foods to her great-grandmother Etta, who always kept a large garden in their backyard. When these two powerful life lessons were combined, the idea for Grow Thyme Hydroponics was sprouted.
Alex has two pets, a dog named Bird and a cat named Fox. In her downtime, she plays in tons of pool tournaments but she also enjoys kayaking, hiking, and many other outdoor activities.
Always a fan of being outdoors, growing things, and experimenting with all life has to offer, Stacey grew up in Ocala, and moved to Gainesville for college to study art and design. Upon finishing her last degree, she began working for herself as a freelance illustrator and designer, while job-hunting, and soon took up a senior designer position at the University of Florida in IFAS. Here she found a real love for the science of nature and how to visually communicate it.
After just a few years, Stacey left UF to continue working on her own full-time, and jumped at the chance to work with Alex on creating Grow Thyme Hydroponics where she could share her love of nature and growing fresh food.
When she’s not working, Stacey plays pool, cycles, makes art, and she and her husband camp and travel the US as often as they can. She is mom to one cat and one dog. Some days you may even see her dog, Rocko, up at the shop!

We donate 5% of our profits to serve and educate the local community about sustainable hydroponic farming.
One of the things we are most excited about is the opportunity to teach everyone what we love, especially the food poor in our community! 5% of our profits will go to enable this opportunity, allowing us to do workshops, go to schools, and buy supplies to share with those you care about!
